Your Donation Protects Patients
All over the state, sick people are being arrested and prosecuted simply for using their medicine. As is the case with drug arrests of every type, most of those targeted are poor. They are assigned public defenders, who do their best to fight the cases, but who face high caseloads and often aren't familiar with the nuances of medical marijuana defense.
Douglas Hiatt has been defending these patients and assisting their defenders for over ten years. He gets involved from the time of the arrest and sees the cases all the way through, coordinating appeals and hiring additional attorneys when necessary. His salary and administrative costs are already covered by a grant; all money you donate will go directly to Douglas' legal defense work or toward hiring and educating additional lawyers for patients.
